Biography

After obtaining a piano diploma at the HEMU in Lausanne, the Swiss soprano Léonie Renaud began her vocal studies at the Hochschule der Künste Bern in Janet Perry's class. During her studies, she was the recipient of numerous scholarships and foundations.
During the 2012-2013 season, she is a trainee soloist at the CNIPAL in Marseille. She benefits from the artistic contribution of personalities such as Edith Mathis, Patricia Petibon and Vladimiras Prudnikovas. She won a special prize at the Spoleto International Competition (Italy) and 3rd Prize at the Paris Opera Awards.
After playing Frasquita (Carmen) on stage at the Bregenz Festival in 2018, she was invited back the following year for Rigoletto and Don Quixotetwo new productions released on DVD by Unitel and accompanied by the Wiener Symphoniker and conducted by Enrique Mazzola and Daniel Cohen.
She made her debut at the Shanghai Grand Theatre, as Marie (La Fille du Régiment) alongside Alessandro Corbelli. She was invited to create the opera Der herzlose Riese with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by David Niemann in which she played the title role. In Werther at the operas of Metz, Massy and Reims, a production broadcast on France 3. She is Maria Luisa (La Belle de Cadix) and Pauline (La Vie parisienne) at the Opéra de Lausanne. She sings Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Toulon and Lucerne operas, Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel)Blondchen (l’Enlèvement au Sérail) at the Metz Opéra.
Léonie Renaud has worked with conductors such as Antonino Fogliani, Jordan de Souza, David Reiland, Stefan Blunier, Benjamin Pionnier, Laurent Campellone, Thomas Rösner, Facundo Agudin, Victorien Vanoosten. She has taken part in numerous festivals, including Saoût sings Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio, Murten Classics in Mahler's 4th, Orfeo ed Euridice and The Magic Flute, the Besançon Festival in Dvorak's Stabat Mater and the Festival du Méjan in Arles accompanied by Marie-Josèphe Jude.She has been invited to sing in prestigious concert halls such as Le Laudi by Hermann Suter. She is invited to Montreal for a series of lyric concerts as part of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques.
Recently, she performed at the Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy in La Belle Hélène, was Frasquita at the Massy opera, Eurydice in Berlioz's version of Berlioz (Orpheus and Eurydice) and Marzelline (Fidelio) at the Metz Opera, Ottilied in l'Auberge du Cheval Blanc at the Opéra de Reims.
Her great interest in symphonic music gave her the opportunity to sing les Nuits d’été of Berlioz with the Sinfonietta de Lausanne conducted by Theodor Guschlbauer, whom she meet again for The Creation of Haydn with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg.
Among her recent engagements, we can mention a new production of Pelléas and Mélisande under the direction of Victorien Vanoosten, the world premiere of the opera Der herzlose Riese with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg conducted by David Niemann, Viktor Ullmann's opera Der Kaiser von Atlantis directed by Facundo Agudin, as well as La Bohème in spring 2023.
