Biography
Geneva Brass celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2027 !
To mark this milestone, Geneva Brass presents 5×5 = 25, a programme conceived as a tribute to the ensemble’s identity: five instruments, five musical personalities, and a quarter-century of artistic adventures in Switzerland and abroad. This new concert highlights the quintet’s rich sound and the enthusiasm that has driven it since its creation.
The first half of the programme returns to the foundations of the style that has shaped Geneva Brass’s reputation. It features transcriptions of iconic classical works—from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 to Shostakovich’s Festive Overture—as well as major works from the original brass quintet repertoire, including Victor Ewald’s romantic Quintet No. 2. It is a way of honouring the pieces that have long accompanied the ensemble’s journey and that showcase the full expressive range of brass instruments.
In the second half, Geneva Brass invites the audience into its musical cabaret. Enter the vibrant world of the Roaring Twenties, with the sharp, satirical atmospheres that animated the pre-war years in Europe and across the Atlantic. The programme revisits great cabaret music, from Boris Vian to Édith Piaf, without forgetting the world of Kurt Weill. Carried by the warmth and energy of brass instruments, these beloved classics are cast in a new light and invite listeners on a festive, theatrical, and thoroughly joyful journey.
With 5×5 = 25, Geneva Brass presents a programme that reflects its own character: generous, virtuosic, and deeply committed to the shared pleasure of live performance.
